Is P Diddy A Millionaire?
In many articles I’ve written in the past about Celebrity Net Worth I’ve wondered whether it was really possible for P Diddy to be the richest rapper alive. In my opinion he is, but in order to prove this claim I need to do some analysis of the rappers that have topped the charts.
If you look back at any of the Hip Hop artists from the past 15 years, you will find that there were many who were able to top the charts. The majority of these performers made millions of dollars, but a few of them were able to earn more than Diddy, but less than Jay Z. At the same time, you’ll also find that there are some who were able to hit the heights at a much younger age than Diddy.
The problem for me was that I needed to have a valid way to determine their net worth. Of course, with such an abundance of data readily available on the net I couldn’t just come up with some random number and then use that number to calculate their net worth. Here’s what I came up with…
Because of the reason stated above, it has been pretty easy for me to figure out what the value of most of the best performers in the music industry are. I know that the likes of Busta Rhymes and Tupac Shakur are considered by many to be among the richest rappers alive. But when you consider that in the past several years Busta has earned about $3 million a year and Tupac made well over $20 million that leaves me wondering how one of those rappers can be considered to be the richest rapper alive.
Another point of contention in my mind is that Diddy’s earnings are significantly higher than those of MC Hammer, Fat Joe, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Dr. Dre. These rappers all have very successful careers and have earned several millions of dollars each. In fact, the only artists who have truly hit the money-making jackpot are Jay Z and Eminem, as they’ve both had successful solo careers in addition to multi-platinum recording sales.
So, my answer to the question, “Is P Diddy A Millionaire” is that Diddy is definitely the richest rapper alive if you remove all of the rappers who have hit the wall or have not been able to hit the ceiling like him. Eminem and Dr. Dre both continue to make great music, and are at or near the top of the charts with their newest releases, but both are more interested in becoming business men than performing musicians.
I’m not saying that each of these rappers has what it takes to be a millionaire, but their careers are all built on a foundation of great music and having huge amounts of money coming in from record sales, DVDs, commercials, movies, endorsements, etc. I’m sure that if you polled them all you would see that some of them have achieved success beyond the level of other artists, but their careers continue to take off because they remain superstars of the music industry.
From my analysis of the best rappers of our generation you can tell that P Diddy is indeed a millionaire and so are most of the top performers. If you still have doubts that he is the richest rapper alive, then give the subject another go and do some deeper analysis of the entire spectrum of hip-hop performers from Sean Combs, to Ludacris, to Dr. Dre, to Eminem, to Busta Rhymes, to even El-P. You may come to find that the average rapper has a net worth of less than $200 million as reported by celebrities insider, but you’d be surprised by how much of a difference that small difference makes.
